Pawsitivity - Geoff, Matilda and Sophia

It’s time for a another great news story from a Pawable customer, my favourite kind of stories. As I’ve said before, I love hearing how Pawable has helped dogs live a happier and healthier life. Last week, Geoff’s story was featured in the Express, if you missed it, here it is below. Read all about how Collar-Gen has helped his dogs Matilda and Sophia.

A dog lover who feared that his precious pets would not be able to enjoy their walks anymore has seen them get a new lease of life after feeding them a traditional beauty supplement.

Geoff Hopwood, 75, who lives in Barnsley, loves taking pups Matilda, eight and Sophia, three for walks in Canon Hall Park.

Sociable Matilda loves going up to fellow walkers for a pat and stroke, while younger Italian spinone Sophia waits a while, before joining in the fun.

But when Matilda developed an arthritic limp, and Sophia developed epilepsy, Geoff, and wife Janet, 71 feared that the walks the dogs loved so much were in jeopardy, as well as their quality of life.

Both dogs take regular medication to help with their conditions, but Geoff was keen to find out if there was anything more that could be done.

That is when he discovered that collagen, which is more commonly used as a beauty supplement, could have a miraculous effect on Matilda and Sophia's wellbeing.

"We first knew that something was wrong with Matilda when she started going a lot slower than Sophia on the walks, and she was limping.

"All you ever want for your animals is for them to be comfortable and enjoy life, and we really feared that their daily walks that they enjoy so much were in jeopardy.

"We wanted to find a complementary supplement to use alongside their medication, and that's when we found the Pawable Collar-Gen supplement.

"We started Matilda on it first, and she was so much more comfortable in herself, so we thought that we would try Sophia too, who suffers from epilepsy, it helps with dogs who are nervous or excitable. We have seen a wonderful difference in both dogs." Said retired army officer and business development director Geoff.

Geoff and Janet have cared for Matilda and Sophia since they were puppies, and the dogs have a close bond. So not being able to walk together at the same time would have been devastating.

Geoff added: "Matilda loves humans and all she wants to do on her walks is stop and meet people, so they can give her a stroke. Sophia is more shy, and lets Matilda go and meet the people, and if they get Matilda's seal of approval then she will join in too. They have a really strong bond and rely on each other."

Collagen is a protein that is found in skin and connective tissues like joints, tendons, cartilage, and ligaments.

It is important for our bodies, but it also makes up 30% of all the protein in a dog’s body, so when it depletes over time it can exacerbate conditions.

Research by Pawable has found that collagen has an extremely positive effect on the strength of their bones, teeth, and claws.

"It really has made all the difference to Matilda and Sophia's quality of life. Who would have thought that something we all think of as a beauty supplement could do that." Added Geoff.
