Facing an unaffordable £8000 vet bill, Tracey found an alternative solution to her dogs cruciate injury

A Derby foster carer has said her pet has been given a new lease of life after feeding her a supplement that is traditionally considered a beauty treatments. Tracey was devastated when her dog Izzy was diagnosed with a painful cruciate injury.

The 57-year-old was told her pet insurance wouldn't cover any proper treatment for her eight-year-old pooch.

Leaving a hefty potential vet bill of £8,000 to deal with the condition.

Unable to afford the treatment, desperate Tracey searched online for other options, fearing her beloved pet might have to be put down.

She found a product called Collar-gen by Pawable, which she started feeding to Izzy.

Tracey said: "I had always thought of collagen as a beauty supplement, but had Izzy on pain killers and knew that we needed to try something to help her. I really feared that we would have to have her put to sleep, which was breaking my heart. She is the first dog that I have ever chosen for myself, and is the same age as my granddaughter. She is so good with the children that we foster."

Before trying the supplement, Tracey and her partner Kev Smith, 62 took their dogs out for shorter walks, and Izzy was confined to walking on the lead.

Tracey added: "Izzy's condition was having a knock on effect on our other dog, Duke too, as they couldn't go for longer walks, they love to stick together and play together. We kept Izzy on a lead at all times, but that was bad for Duke because he had lost his playmate."

Tracey claims that within weeks of Izzy starting the supplement the couple noticed a huge difference in their beloved pet.

Tracey added: "She now plays off the lead and is enjoying life again, it really is a miracle as we really did fear having to say goodbye to her when it was at its worst. She is a happy dog again and it's such a big relief."

Collagen is a protein that is found in skin and connective tissues like joints, tendons, cartilage, and ligaments. Clinical studies have shown that collagen supplements are effective at reducing inflammation, supporting joints and reducing arthritic pain.

We're so happy to hear that Collar-Gen has had such a positive impact on Izzy and Tracey's life!
